With major political developments in the last 48 hours many Wisconsin citizens, both liberal and conservative, are in shock. With the sudden disbanding of the Senate Committee on Mining Jobs that was telling voters that the mining bill passed by the Assembly in January was dead, one must wonder just what the committee had been planning on reporting. They also promised the people of Wisconsin that a Senate version of the bill would be done through a legislative process that was more deliberate and have more input from the people involved and effected in the areas on the mine through public hearings before going to a vote. That will now now happen, and there will be little or no public input. Pay to play is alive and well in Wisconsin.
In this sudden move to force the bill forward without any public scrutiny, the forces of Corporate Government have initiated a sneak attack on the people in order to force Laws on the citizenry that benefits corporate profits over the welfare of the people, the respect of the institution of Democracy and the welfare of the Natural Resources of the State of Wisconsin.
Acting on his own, Wisconsin Senate majority leader Scott Fitzgerald suddenly and without any warning disbanded the Senate Committee on Mining Jobs that was formed and lead by Senator Neal Kedzie (Sen.Kedzie@legis.wisconsin.gov) (SD 11, Elkhorn), the lead bill author and chair of the Senate Natural Resources and Environment Committee. As Wisconsin Senate majority leader Scott Fitzgerald stated himself, this was to prevent the opposition of mine by any other interests.
Planned in advance of the developments of recent, a group of NE Wisconsin and Green Bay residents marched in protest this afternoon at the Brown County Courthouse exercising their right to assembly and to show discontent with the political situation, or dictatorship style of governing by the current majority in Wisconsin Government.
I cover many of the aspects of this controversy in my last report. The successful smokescreen of jobs and economic benefit of the proposed mine put out the the bought and paid for representation of the GOP in Wisconsin can cause confusion and misunderstanding. We are working a detailed report (video) on the effects of Iron Ore mining on other small communities and the good or bad that have been caused by such in the past. Look for it in the next few weeks.
