Army Has New Parachute

After over 50 years of use, the US Army now has a new parachute system, the T11.  Although I usually jumped the maneuverable T-1B, the jumps that I did make with the T10 were an experience as there was no control, one goes where the wind takes you, and you hit like a ton of ammo cans.

With a higher load capacity of 40lbs, a greatly reduced injury rate, and a much more comfortable landing, the chute system does have a few drawbacks.  First the weight.  It is a load increase of 9 more pounds for the trooper, Ranger, or operator to "waddle" to the aircraft with.  There is also a greater lag, or deployment time with the new chute, and Army cadence's will have to be changed.  It will now be "Stand up, hook up, shuffle to the door, jump on out and count to six"" (no longer four, and eight if you are jumping from a helicopter).

The square shaped canopy is more stable and should also reduce in air collisions of the jumpers, a very dangerous situation that can be encountered during mass jumps.

I would expect the smaller units such as Ranger and SOCOM units to continue to use the T-1B or systems based on the highly maneuverable civilian 250 commando.

Is our cold start to the season a sign that our Planet is not warming?

Red Lake Rain of October top(10)

Fall More Precipitation is expected this week.

With more Rain and possible snow in forecast for this Forecast screenshot for Week of 18.24 October for NE Wisconsinweek, one may begin to wonder if this will be another fall that is basically an immediate transition from summer to winter.  With most of our weather experts stating Red Lake Rain of October (2)_3734For Email this has been the second coldest start of the season (in some areas of Wisconsin, the coldest)

Fall Rain and Snow.

Although fall is a season that has a tendency to be cold, windy, and wet, we are once again experiencing record weather conditions.  In a recent posting to his Facebook page, NBC 26 Meteorologist Cameron Moreland stated "Saturday was the 8th consecutive day with highs in the 40s!! Red Lake Rain of October (9)_3741For EmailIt's the earliest on record that that has happened! Records go back to the 1800s".  But what does that mean?  Conservatives who still don't believe that Global Warming is not real, would say anyone with an ounce of  common sense could see that the cold weather easily shows that this Global Warming thing is just more liberal anti business, anti corporate propaganda.

We here in NE Wisconsin got our first snowfall today.  It didn't look as if we were going to get enough to actually accumulate, but I am not so sure now.

No more Gringo Beef???

This is not true.  Here are the details from the hoax kill website:

Description: Email rumor (see also: Canadian version)
Circulating since: May 2002
Status: Misleading / Outdated

Comments: The grain of truth in this alarmist rant is that McDonald's indeed announced in mid-2002 that the company would test imported beef in a small percentage of its U.S. restaurants. However, the meat in question was to be produced in New Zealand and Australia, not South America.
McDonald's cited a short supply of lean beef as the reason for the experiment. The imported product would come from grass-fed herds, the company said, which tend to yield leaner meat than the mostly grain-fed cattle raised in the United States.
Even so, many U.S. cattle producers called for a boycott of McDonald's, sometimes citing the same health and safety concerns brought up in this chain letter. Their alarmism rang a bit disingenuous, however, given that Americans already consumed roughly 1.5 million tons of imported beef per year, much of it from Australia and New Zealand. In fact, as of 2002, the United States imports more beef than any other country in the world.
If non-U.S. beef per se really does constitute a serious health threat to American consumers, McDonald's tentative foray into the foreign market would seem to be the least of our worries.
Update: A
new version circulating since February 2009 claims McDonald's is planning to use South American beef at its Canadian locations.

Source: http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/business/a/mcdonalds_beef.htm

I'm sure those of you who aren't in the cattle business don't understand the
issues here. But to those of us
whose living depends on the cattle market, selling cattle, raising the best
beef possible... This is frustrating.
This will keep us from ever stopping there again, even for a drink.
The original message is from the Texas Cattle Feeders Association
American cattle producers are very passionate about this.
McDonald's claims that there is not enough beef in the USA to support their
restaurants. Well, we know that is not so. Our opinion is they are looking
to save money at our expense. The sad thing of it is that the people of the
USA are the ones who made McDonald's successful in the first place, but we
are not good enough to provide beef.
We personally are no longer eating at McDonald's, which I am sure does not
make an impact, but if we pass this around maybe there will be an impact
felt.
All Americans that sell cows at a livestock auction barn had to sign a paper
stating that we do NOT EVER feed our cows any part of another cow. South
Americans are not required to do this as of yet.
McDonald's has announced that they are going to start importing much of
their beef from South America . The problem is that South Americans aren't
under the same regulations as American beef producers, and the regulations
they have are loosely controlled.
They can spray numerous pesticides on their pastures that have been banned
here at home because of residues found in the beef. They can also use
various hormones and growth regulators that we can't. The American public
needs to be aware of this problem and that they may be putting themselves at
risk from now on by eating at good old McDonald's..
American ranchers raise the highest quality beef in the world and this is
what Americans deserve to eat. Not beef from countries where quality is
loosely controlled. Therefore, I am proposing a boycott of
McDonald's until they see the light.
I'm sorry but everything is not always about the bottom line, and when it
comes to jeopardizing my family's health, that is where I draw the line.
I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you? Acting
together we can make a difference.

In 1987, a Belleville police officer reported "lights in the sky" two miles south of

Belleville, Wisconsin (between Belleville and New Glarus, south of Madison.) Dane County police also arrived on the scene to witness this UFO sighting, which was also verified on radar from Chicago's O'Hare Airport.
Author Noah Voss tells about the sighting in this video produced by the Gunter Agency.

Star or UFO Wisconsin Confidential October 2 2009

UFO,star report blog top

In my third and final report on this subject, I show one more Star or Planet that if captured with video or still photography at the correct azimuth and under certain conditions can appear to be a UFO or considered as much.UFO,star 9.30 (25)

UFOSTAR 9.30.09 with pointers This is not to disclaim or debunk any specific video or report, just to demonstrate how true it is that “Eye Witness” testimony and account, even if “captured” with quality photographic equipment, can be unreliable and not quite scientifically accurate.

I am sure someone will come forward on Youtube and comment telling me what Star or planet I am looking at here.

Although there is a lot of other types of UFO video coming out every day, it will still remain to be seen if the physical evidence can or will ever be produced to establish a solid case for an aircraft of extraterrestrial origin actually operating within our atmosphere or even within low earth orbit.  I do wish that I had the budget that would allow me to go around the United States and even elsewhere in search of that one sighting or incident that cannot be explained.

I am sure that I have shown those who want to believe, but need the evidence, the ease at which some things can be taken out of context.

It has been a lot of fun covering this subject, but unless something shocking comes to light, my next stories may be of a more “Hard News” and “Earthly” subject matter such as Global warming or our national State of War.

We will however have a report coming soon on the Paulding Light with a very Skeptical Believer based, but scientifically sound (Hopefully) report.

UFO In Wisconsin or Venus

DSCN1815 wide Here is another report on UFO's, or what in this particular case is actually a star, or possibly the planet Venus. One seeing this the video footage of the star may swear (like tclose up stillhe other video, there are still those who swear it is a UFO being operated by Aliens, although if they were with me when I shot the footage they would probably agree it is in fact a star) that though it's perceived shape shifting and color shifts, it is some kind of Alien Spacecraft.
I am doing this short series to show that many of the UFO videos on the Internet today are simple anomalies, frame refractions, Camera lens's trying to focus, Lens flare, light variations due to atmospheric conditions, and visual distortions due to atmospheric convection .
I do admit that I have seen some videos and photos that even with advanced technology and near pro editing gear to analyze the video or photo, I cannot explain the ... and those are the ones that truly fascinate

Keep checking back here for more reports on strange things in the sky here in Wisconsin, and also a future report on the Paulding light as I will be covering this in the near future with a skilled and experience former Police Detective and Homicide Investigator.

Vega, or a UFO, Spotted September 1 2009 11 25pm

[UFO - Copy[2].jpg]

On September 1, 2009 at 11:25 PM this was spotted at 38° North at a vertical angle of 15°. It would appear at first to be some sort of aircraft that changes shape and color. As it rose with the rotation of the Earth, the color shifting slowly diminishes. Those with me at first would have sworn that this was some sort of UFO.
I can say with relative confidence that this is a star, possibly Vega?

I have submitted inquiries to Nova Science now, NASA's Aero Team, and Cornell University.  If you have any information that could be of use here, please leave a comment and I will be sure to respond.

A Vary Controversial UFO Video

Although this isn't really Wisconsin News, I got involved, so I guess it is.

Below in italics was my original response.  But when I analyzed the video, now I am not so sure.
I took the video with "Keep It", then opened in Premiere.  In Premiere I used the color adjustment and several other features to get a better look at the video.  I was trying to find other reflection. in what I thought was a window.  But window reflections do not move or appear behind clouds.
I cannot explain this, and it gave me goose bumps when I saw this.
My original comment on Youtube; "Swamp gas being driven by Venus ... window reflection.
Looks cool though"

Here is the original video.

Here is my analysis version.  With the changes in Color Spectrum I attempted to catch more "reflections" and prove my theory that it was a reflection.  I failed.

A UFO in Wisconsin

In this video, I show a UFO?   Not really.

I see a lot of video like this on Youtube and other video sites.  I made this in about 5 minutes and uploaded the raw MTS file right off the memory card to Youtube with no editing. So how did the apparent UFO get in the picture.

A little green light reflecting off the window.

Now I am definitely not saying that all the UFO videos out there are compete hoaxes, lighting anomalies, or man made either by accident or on intentionally, but I thought it would be interesting to see how long it would take me to make my own.

It took longer to do this blog that it did to make the video and upload it.

The T40 Torx® Drive Bit

I was working on my car, and in the instructions on Autozone there was a task DSCN0491that required (actually, my model didn't even require one) a Torx® Drive Bit D79P-2100-T40.  I searched and searched and found no reference online to know exactly what they were talking about.  Even Autozone didn't seem to carry one!

As it turns out, I actually had one already the whole time.

The Photo to the above is a T-40.  Below, a T20.

Now I haven't yet been able to find out exactly what the specific Torx® Drive Bit D79P-2100-T40 is, but one should at least get the idea here.

So, here you go.  The next guy may find this and learn what it was without the frustration I felt, or correct me if I am wrong.  The beauty of the Internet. T20 bit (9)
