The financial protest movement that started with Occupy Wallstreet has begun to spread to other parts of the United States. The first known open protest to start near Wisconsin is Occupy Chicago. With updates on their facebook page as well as their website http://occupychi.org/ the protest is growing through the use of social media.
Original movement organizers stated that overseas protests and the sudden spread of democratic movements in the Middle east and other regions around the the world were an inspiration to use social media to spread the growing frustration with economic conditions and even monetary policy.
The protests have also been notable as they have been receiving little attention in the national news media. This despite the growth of the movement and the addition of other protests in US Cities around the nation.
The coverage and interest of the movement has also grown rapidly online and on social media. Citizens of all ages and types are taking part not only in the protests, but also the organizing and support assets, Another notable difference is the organizers are streaming many on the the protests online with live video feeds from multiple cameras. This has the benefit of keeping track of events as they occur at site and documents all for history and the World Wide Web to see.
We are watching for the movement to start to take in Wisconsin as we have had our share of protests lately.
We will continue to monitor the situation as it develops and will try to bring a report on the basic issues and policies that the are the source of the problem soon.
